Visual Communications - Give and Take
The aim of this project is to explore and challenge the concept of drawing in an Art Direction context and to think in more detail about the decisions I make and why I make them, thus helping me to refine my ways of working and improve my ability to adapt my skills to different challenges.
I'll be taking part in workshops and experiments that will introduce different ways of creating marks and allow me to develop aspects of my creative thinking. I will be using traditional forms such as using a drawing tool on paper but I will mostly be exploring drawing in a wider sense; arranging objects to form a line, collaborative drawings, tufting a rug etc.

Gifs

For this initial GIF, I re-drew my self portrait digitally using Photoshop and then made the eyes roll by moving the eye position each frame. I really like this GIF and I think its brilliant for a first attempt however, I think the weight of some of the lines are too thick so it could do with being re-drawn again. I also think I need to make more frames so that the rolling is a more fluid motion.

I really liked my initial sketch of this GIF so I knew that I wanted to develop this one into a GIF, it was just hard to decide what to do with it. Then I remembered old MSN Messenger 'nudges', something simple but affective so I went with the waving. Once I had the image made up on Photoshop, creating the movement was really simple and done in just 5 frames.

This GIF was the easiest of the 3 for me to make as there's no real movement, once I drew the character, I just needed to duplicate it 7 times then increase the red section on each layer. Like the Rolling Eyes GIF, I really like it and think its effective but it needs more layers so that the rising anger is more fluid.
